Tavistock and Portman, Director, National Workforce Skills Development Unit

Chris Caldwell is Executive Director of Nursing at Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust in London, where she is the Trust executive lead for Workforce, the Director of the National Workforce Skills Development Unit and the SRO for mental health workforce within North London Partners STP.

She is concurrently Programme Director for the CapitalNurse Programme, Working across London for Health Education England (HEE), NHS England and NHS Improvement on a programme of collective action to build and sustain high quality nursing workforce across London

Chris was previously Dean for Healthcare Professions at HEE. Other past roles include Assistant Director of Nursing, Education and Organisational Development at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London as well as a range of roles in education, clinical practice and policy at local and national level. Chris is an Honorary Visiting Professor at City, University of London and London South Bank University, Co-Chair of the London Perinatal Mental Health Network and a member of the London Mental Health Programme Clinical Leadership Group.

Chris is a registered nurse in adult and children’s nursing and a nurse teacher. She has a Masters in Health Psychology and gained her Doctorate from Ashridge Business School focusing on transformational organisational change.
